Calgary, Canada-Awaiting overnight flight to London. From London we will fly to Baku, Azerbaijan and then back to Tbilisi, Georgia-in all, this will be a 25hr odyssey.
We plan to spend about four days in the capital city (Tbilisi) to scout locations and meet with representatives from the Georgian Film Center. Then we'll make our way to Katskhi Pillar which is about two hours to the northwest. We hope to stay in the monastery below the pillar but initially we will be camping nearby. The goal of this trip is to get to know Father Maxim, the villagers who are helping him, and the general circumstances surrounding this remarkable story. We hope to create a short film which will be used to help raise money for the feature length film.
Depending on access to WiFi we will be uploading clips from the field with this blog acting as a research journal. Check the Stylite Facebook and this blog often for updates and please help us to spread the word as this film will not be possible without a strong grassroots following.
